The “abundant life” which Jesus came to give you is His own life with its love, power, faith, and victory over life’s difficulties – the gift of God is that you should have the life of his Son, Jesus.
The Bible says, “We are buried with him by baptism … that like as Christ was raised from the dead … even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Rom 6:3. If we die in baptism, “we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”
The resurrection power is in the Holy Spirit. Read Romans 8:11. The pattern seen at Jesus’ baptism, and at his death, must be fulfilled in you. You die with him in baptism, and are resurrected by the receiving of the Holy Spirit. This is accompanied by the evidence of speaking in other tongues just as happened in the early church (Acts 2).

The experience of the Holy Spirit in the Bible completely changed the lives of those who accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ. Men from very humble backgrounds began to boldly preach the resurrection of Jesus, and miracles of healing appeared in their ministry, continuing the ministry which Jesus began, to deliver people from sin and relieve the suffering of mankind. This experience is called the baptism, infilling or receiving of the Holy Spirit which Jesus promised it to all. John 7:37-39, and Matthew 3:11.
Yet in this 21st century ‘post-modern’ world, even amongst Christian groups, we hear very little about the work of the Holy Spirit, and therefore an absence of God’s power at work through faith in Jesus (Acts 1:8).
Through the Spirit we experience the person or nature of Jesus Christ. (Read Ephesian 3:16-21 and John 16:13-14). The Spirit is essential for every believer – Romans 8:9., 1 John 3:23-24 and 4:12-13. Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. John 10:10

Just as the call to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ is to all who will believe, every believer should expect Jesus’ promise and power over sickness, and for these truths to be preached boldly by His Spirit-filled, Bible-believing church today. The name of our Lord Jesus Christ is glorified through lives redeemed from the curse of sin and healing for our bodies and minds from the curses of sickness!
Throughout the book of Acts the disciples brought the power of God to the unsaved through the preaching of the Gospel and the healing of the sick. “Then Philip went to Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them. And many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.” Acts 8:5
Thank God we are delivered from these shocking curses by the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. The sin and sickness question was dealt with at the Cross of Christ, with the ministry of healing manifested by our Lord when He came also passed on to the believing church of the Bible.
The God of the Bible is a healing God; His very nature is to restore and make whole. Even in the Old Testament, He was Jehovah-Rapha, God the Healer. When Moses led the people out of Egypt and on to the promised land, God said “If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, and will do that which is right in his sight and will give ear to His commandments, I will put (literally permit) none of these diseases upon you which I have brought (allowed) upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord that heals you” Exodus 15:26.
And, “He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” Psalm 107:20. And “Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases” in Psalm 103:3. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested as “the Word made flesh”, working wonderful miracles of healing and deliverance throughout His earthly ministry.
James 5:14-15, 1Peter 2:24, 3 John 2 -for all Believers
Signs and evidence of Jesus’ soon return are increasing as world events unfold. Prophecies in the Bible made thousands of years ago are being fulfilled today in our generation.
Jesus said, “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near”, as we see nations disturbed by events in Israel.
Also, “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time, they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near”, from Luke 21:20-28.
And Jesus said, “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”, from Matthew 24:10-14.
